Roadside grazing EOI

Farmers across Moyne Shire are encouraged to lodge an expression of interest (EOI) for roadside grazing.

Council is managing the issuing of roadside grazing permits while a review of the Roadside Conservation Plan and biodiversity mapping is underway.

This review will streamline procedures and assessments to better avoid and mitigate impacts on native flora and fauna species.

In the meantime, council acknowledges it is a tough season for its farming community and is also mindful of conditions approaching the 2025/26 fire season.

Council is working with The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action to determine which roadside areas could be grazed based on low risk / low biodiversity values.

If you are interested in seeking a permit for roadside grazing you may use the Expression of Interest form or a hard copy can be collected from the Port Fairy or Mortlake offices.

Each EOI will be assessed to determine what assistance council may be able provide. This assessment will include the confirmation of any native vegetation impacts, and whether the location would be suitable for grazing.  This will ensure each application is based on fire prevention with no detrimental native vegetation impacts.

If you have already lodged an EOI it will continue to be assessed and considered.

If you need any assistance with the EOI please contact council’s community safety team on 1300 656 564.
