Council is considering amending General Local Law No1 – 2015 in order to control the presence of dogs and the use of toy vehicles in sections of Port Fairy's main streets.
The proposed amendment(PDF, 598KB) currently being considered involves prohibiting dogs and the use of toy vehicles:
- In Bank St between James St and Princes St, and Sackville St between Bank St and Cox St
- From 24 December to Easter Monday each year
- Between the hours of 9am and 6pm
Note: Assistance dogs are not subject to the proposed amendments. The local law uses the term ‘toy vehicles’ to describe roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, scooters and the like. It does not include devices such as wheelchairs, prams or mobility scooters.
The community are invited to make a submission regarding the proposed amendments. Submissions may address any aspect of the proposed amendments including the overall need to control dogs or toy vehicles in Port Fairy, or particular elements of the proposed amendments including the subject area or timing of controls.
The community feedback period is Monday 9 August to Sunday 5 September. Submissions can be made:
