If you're aged 16-25 living, working, studying or just hanging out in Moyne and Warrnambool, we want  you to join our Youth Co-Design Panel (YCP)!

Together, we're on a mission to cook up something seriously cool; a brand new Youth Strategy for our region.

Picture this: you and up to 19 other rad individuals partnering up with Moyne Shire and Warrnambool City Councils to design a strategy that's all about you. We're talking modern, responsive, and totally inclusive. Our goal? To make sure every young voice is heard loud and clear.

Our aim is to create a panel that represents the diversity of young people in Moyne and Warrnambool, in a safe and inclusive space. This is not a skills or experienced based panel, your qualifications, education and experiences are NOT part of the eligibility criteria!

Oh, and did we mention? You'll get paid $35 an hour for your time and killer ideas. Yup, you read that right - get paid to make a difference!

So, if you're up to the challenge and ready to make a difference in your community, hit us up and let's get this party started! It's time to shape the future together!

Why do we need a Youth Co-Design Panel?

Council needs to hear from young people so we can make sure your ideas and perspectives are being considered in the decision-making process. We want to create an inclusive and sustainable community for both current and future generations, and we need you involved to make sure we are on the right track.

What is a Youth Strategy?

A Youth Strategy is a plan that focuses on addressing the specific needs, priorities, and aspirations of young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed in community development efforts, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and empowering environment for youth participation and growth.

FAQs

What is the Youth Co-Design Panel?

The Youth Co-Design Panel will be a representative group of young people aged 16-25 years from Moyne and Warrnambool. This is not a skills or experienced based panel, your qualifications, education and experiences are NOT part of the eligibility criteria!

The panel will collaborate with council to shape a responsive and inclusive Youth Strategy for our region.

Council needs to hear from young people so we can make sure your ideas and perspectives are being considered in the decision-making processes.

We want to create an inclusive and sustainable community for both current and future generations, and we need you involved to make sure we are on the right track.

Why is a Youth Strategy needed?

Ever wondered why councils need a youth strategy? It’s all about making sure that your needs and ideas count when it comes to planning for our communities. When council’s listen to and involve young people like you, they can build communities that work for everyone, now and in the future. So, by having a Youth Strategy, council can make our towns and city more inclusive and sustainable places to live.

What will a new Youth Strategy achieve?

The Youth Strategy aims to achieve several important goals: giving young people a voice in decision-making, guiding the council’s youth programs and budgeting, advocating for youth needs, ensuring services address youth issues, understanding youth challenges, identifying gaps and providing clear actions for council to follow and report on. It’s all about empowering youth, improving services, and celebrating achievements.

What are some of the other benefits for young people?

The YCP will be a great opportunity for young people to meet new people, develop their communication and public speaking skills, and gain valuable experience collaborating with like-minded young people who want to make a difference to life in Moyne and Warrnambool. And the experience and skills gained will look great on your resume!
