Youth events at Port Fairy's Winter Weekends

Moyne Shire is rolling out an enticing program of free youth activities and events in conjunction with the Winter Weekends festival.

The much-loved festival lights up Port Fairy in winter, bringing cheer, visitors, and a diverse range of fun events to town.

The activities run across the King’s Birthday long weekend, and will include:

SATURDAY JUNE 8
Young Maker’s Market, 9:30am-1:00pm, Railway Goods Shed
Acro Yoga, 10-11am, Port Fairy Sea Scouts Hall
Poi Twirling Workshops, 11-11:40am and 12-12:40pm, Fiddlers Green
Toy-Making Workshop, 10am-12pm, Fiddlers Green
Kids Ceramics Workshop, 1-3pm, Port Fairy Community House

SUNDAY JUNE 9
Acro Yoga, 10-11am, Port Fairy Sea Scouts Hall
Worn Gundidj Basket Weaving Workshop, 10am-12pm, Port Fairy Community House
Worn Gundidj Bush Foods Tour, 2pm-3:30pm, Tower Hill

Mayor, Cr Ian Smith said all the activities will be free, but bookings are essential as spots are limited.

“We’ve seen from past Winter Weekends just how popular these activities are,” said Cr Smith.

“We invite local and visiting young people to jump in and have some fun during the festival,” he said.

Winter Weekends spokesperson Melanie Schultz said “The Winter Weekends Committee has been working hard behind the scenes to bring over 30 different arts, music, food, environment and community events to life over the King's Birthday Long Weekend, including the ever-popular Community Bank Dachshund Dash.”

“We are delighted to be once again partnering with Moyne Shire Council to offer a wide range of free events for young people and their families to enjoy," she said.
