Wet weather delays grading program

The constant wet weather has caused a delay to Moyne Shire Council’s annual unsealed road grading program.
Unsealed roads are far too wet to grade at the moment and if work was to be carried out it would potentially create a more significant road hazard.
Director Infrastructure and Environment Edith Farrell said the grading program will recommence as soon as conditions allow.
“It really is a fine art, you can’t have too much moisture and you also don’t want it too dry. There is a real sweet spot that is optimal for this type of work,” she said.
“The constant rain over the past month means everything is too wet and we can’t complete the program.
“Our crews are constantly monitoring the conditions right across the shire and will recommence the grading program work as soon as possible.
“In the meantime, Council ask motorists to drive to the conditions and obey any signage council places on unsealed roads.”
Ms Farrell said council will also soon publish the planned grading program so residents can view where crews will be working across the shire.
