Taste Trails Open Days 2024
Published on 30 November 2023
Food lovers can indulge in a culinary adventure this January as Moyne Shire's Taste Trail Open Days return with a self-drive itinerary to 14 local food and beverage producers and two country markets.
Locals and visitors will be able to meet the passionate makers behind the region's finest produce, from Suffoir’s craft beverages to Childers Cove Cheese Co’s authentic farm gate experience with goat selfies.
The trail will uncover unique tastes at new pop-up stalls, including Monday Distillery's sophisticated non-alcoholic drinks, the newly opened Mepunga Wines and the fisherman at Off The Boat Port Fairy.
It will also provide a chance to engage with the creators behind Mitch’s Preserves, Basalt Wines and the growers at Volcano Produce’s Pick Your Own Strawberries, while for the first time Southern Ocean Mariculture are taking tours and tastings at their state-of-the-art abalone farm in Port Fairy.
Mayor Cr Ian Smith said each stop promises an authentic encounter with producers dedicated to their craft.
“On select dates from 12-26 January 2024, all the producers will open their doors simultaneously as an invitation to the region's delicious offerings,” said Cr Smith.
“Many of the producers will have giant games for kids and special deals for Taste Trail participants,” he said.
“This year the event extends to Mortlake on Sunday January 14, with the vibrant Mortlake Market showcasing local stalls, plus exclusive deals at Clarke's Cafe for Taste Trail participants.”
Food adventurers can get a Taste Trail map from the Port Fairy and Region Visitor Information Centre to plan their road trip, as well as a tote bag that unlocks special offers.
