Almost $60,000 in funding has been awarded to community groups from Round 2 of Council’s Community Assistance Fund.

At Tuesday’s Council meeting, Councillors approved $39,832.54 in matched funding to groups across the shire for projects over $3,000 including irrigation upgrades, solar panels and battery storage, pool rollers and covers and showjumping equipment.

Mayor, Cr Karen Foster said the fund supports community facilities, acquisition of equipment and assistance toward community programs and initiatives.

“It’s so important to support groups, clubs and organisations to make improvements on community facilities, assets and programs so they’re fit for purpose,” said Cr Foster.

“Combined with the first round of funding, over the past year we have provided $202,500 to groups right across Moyne Shire for a wide range of projects and equipment,” she said.

“This funding encourages a self-help culture amongst groups and creates collaborative partnerships with Council that help build stronger communities.”

“We’re very keen to see these projects come to life and congratulate all the latest funding recipients.”

Cr Foster said $19,782.04 had been awarded in the Under $3,000 category, which were approved by the CEO.

She said these projects included bowls mats, a defibrillator, table tennis table, plumbing repairs and skills and leadership training.
