Financial support on offer to tertiary students

Moyne Shire is calling for applications to its Academic Support Scholarships, with a total of $15,000 on offer for students in their first year of tertiary study.
The aim is to assist local 18-25 year-olds get the academic start they need to help create the next generation of skilled workers.
Mayor, Cr Karen Foster said the scholarships provide financial support to rural students as they begin tertiary studies.
“Council’s Academic Support Scholarships have been running for 27 years now, assisting students from within the shire to pursue their academic goals,” said Cr Foster.
“To many students these scholarships can break down some of the barriers to accessing further education and letting them focus on their studies,” she said.
“Last year our three successful applicants received $5000 each, enough to make a real difference.”
Cr Foster said she was looking forward to seeing applications from students.
“Scholarship recipients have come from all sorts of courses, from agriculture to health care, from trades to arts,” she said.
“We encourage all eligible students to make an online application – it doesn’t take too long and you can upload a video or audio clip if you would like to in order to tell us more about yourself.”
