Crazy good ideas from young people
Published on 28 July 2023
Young people from St Patrick’s Primary School and Port Fairy Consolidated Primary stepped up to complete Moyne Shire Council’s Social Innovators program last week, with a strong focus on ideas being brought to life in the community.
The Year 6 students came together on July 17-18th at Southcombe Lodge to complete the program, led by Crazy Ideas College (CIC).
Mayor, Cr Karen Foster said across the two days the young people discovered new insights around issues they care about.
“These children generated crazy good ideas, and prototyped how these ideas can work in the community,” said Cr Foster.
“They presented compelling pitches to a panel of community and business partners with creative thinking about how we tackle our big challenges in new and radical ways.”
Key themes that the ideas addressed included finding ways to promote care for the environment, enhancing health and wellbeing, fostering community connectedness and reimagining learning.
The partners provided feedback to teams as they developed their ideas, and connected teams with the right people and resources so their ideas can be brought to life over the next 8 weeks.
At the conclusion of the program, all ideas will be showcased at https://cicbeyond.com/ to celebrate and connect these ideas with community.
