Citizenship Day for 13 new citizens

Published on 12 September 2024

Moyne Shire Council will welcome 13 new citizens at an Australian citizenship ceremony on Tuesday 17 September 2024 in Port Fairy, as part of Australian Citizenship Day celebrations, this year also marking the 75th anniversary of Australian citizenship.

The conferees from five countries, being United Kingdom, New Zealand, Philippines, United States of America, and Vietnam, will become Australian citizens as part of the ceremony.

Mayor of Moyne Shire, Ian Smith said the event will be one of hundreds of ceremonies taking place across Australia that will see thousands of people officially become new citizens on or around Australian Citizenship Day.

“Australian Citizenship Day is an opportunity for all Australians, whether by birth or by choice, to reflect on and celebrate what’s great about being Australian,” Cr Smith said.

Australian Citizenship Day provides an occasion for individuals, schools and community organisations to reflect on the contributions of citizens to our local communities.

“I encourage everyone in Moyne to reflect on and affirm their Australian citizenship as we warmly welcome our newest citizens.”
