Celebrating Inspiring Women for International Women’s Day
Published on 26 February 2025
Moyne Shire Council is proud to once again honour the incredible women in our community as part of this year’s Inspiring Women of Moyne Awards.
With over 20 nominations received, this year’s awards will be presented at a special free event at Charlie’s on East, Port Fairy, from 5:00-6:30pm on Friday 28 February 2025.
The event will feature renowned contemporary Aboriginal artist and founder of Spirit and Soul Creations, Sherry Johnstone, as keynote speaker sharing her inspiring journey of resilience, leadership, and cultural storytelling.
Mayor, Cr Karen Foster said each nomination represents an inspiring woman who has made a meaningful impact on someone’s life or in our community.
“These awards celebrate their achievements and reinforce the importance of supporting women in all areas of life,” said Cr Foster.
“This year’s International Women’s Day theme, #AccelerateAction, encourages us to take meaningful steps toward gender equality by actively creating opportunities, fostering inclusivity, and celebrating women’s achievements,” she said.
“A panel discussion will feature three remarkable women - Margaret Whitehead, Sherry Johnstone, and Jacinta Ermacora - who will share their inspiring stories, reflect on the people and experiences that have shaped them, and discuss the resilience that has driven their leadership, advocacy, and impact within the community.”
The community is invited to this free event to celebrate, reflect, and continue the important conversations that drive change for women in our community.
