Baxter St playground coming soon

Councillor James Purcell has turned the first sod to kick off construction works on Port Fairy’s Baxter Street Playground.
Contractors will be on site next week installing the play equipment which will feature a triple swing, climbing nets, rock wall and double slides.
Mayor, Cr Ian Smith said parents had raised the need for a playground in that part of Port Fairy and Council was delivering.
“It’s an open space near where there are young families living, they suggested a playground in the reserve there to help activate the space and provide some facilities closer to home,” Cr Smith said.
“We can’t wait to see it finished and the children in that area enjoying their fantastic new playground” added Cr Purcell.
The play space has been developed with feedback from residents in that part of town and was endorsed by Councillors.
Contractors Moduplay are installing the playground and works will also include accessible pathways.
Work is expected to take around three weeks, dependent on weather conditions.
